Cob is pleased to announce it's participation in MEGA, taking place in Milan this April 2025. The gallery will present paintings from Cob represented artist's Tomo Campbell and Yi Liu.
The presentation explores traditional subjects from distinct cultural perspectives with both artists drawing from art historical sources to reinterpret classical themes.
Campbell and Liu each present a work depicting a hunting scene—an enduring subject in both Eastern and Western painting traditions. Through their respective practices, they investigate the medium of painting itself, layering and collaging imagery to create dynamic compositions that evoke movement and fluidity.
Their works engage in a dialogue between diverse source materials, contorting perspectives and blurring boundaries through expressive, metamorphic forms. The ambiguity in their compositions alludes to transformation, while their lyrically expressive painting styles echo techniques found in traditional frescoes, textiles and manuscripts.
