Allan Gardner Scottish, b. 1992

b. 1992 Scottish. Lives and works in London, UK.

Interpretation is at the centre of Gardner’s practice, constructing narratives from disparate parts of popular culture, lived experience, art history and critical theory as a means of inducing thought experiments around symbols and aesthetics.

Working in an interdisciplinary manner, Allan Gardner’s dominant mediums are painting, installation and writing - occasionally incorporating AV elements.

Allan Gardner’s practice is responsive, aiming to contribute to contemporary critical discourse around art and culture as well as contemporary politics of being and identity - how do we situate ourselves in relation to others, how do aesthetic and symbolic factors contribute to this situation.

Rather than sharing a specific visual narrative, Allan Gardner’s works are linked by intention and tend towards media in the expanded field.
